Top Hunting Apps of 2018 Reviewed

There are many hunting apps available for both Android and iOS devices.  From free to subscription based, there are many options to choose from. How do you know which one is worth investing into?  With constantly expanded cell coverage for many hunting areas, a good app is worth considering.  It can significantly help you pinpoint where to hunt and help you determine best hunting conditions. Here are our recommendations.

1.onX Hunt

The HUNT app from onXmaps allows you to quickly view property boundaries in real time.

The app itself is free, but the property boundaries and parcel information layers require a subscription, with packages starting at $15 a month. The information allows you to differentiate between public and private land. It gives public land hunters more confidence and allows for many new hunting opportunities. Excellent app for researching hunting locations, especially when used in conjunction with Google Earth.

Hunt is basically a GPS navigation app with many map layers that you can control. It allows for location tracking with waypoints, ilocation sharing and area and distance measuring.

2.HuntStand

HuntStand covers everything you can possibly need while hunting. Check wind, weather, solar and lunar phases but most importantly, advanced mapping, land management, reporting, calculating distance and area. You can the share your maps with your friends and club members.

For $10 per month, you can see private property boundaries and owner information. At $5.99 you will be able o remove ads from the app.

HuntStand: The HuntStand app can combine GPS satellite mapping, data analytics, and land-management functionality. It works on- and offline by caching maps and weather, game, and asset data to users’ phones. This application enhances the safety and success of each hunt, and presents insights into the land and records of hunters and outdoor enthusiasts.

3.ScoutLook Hunting: Weather

ScoutLook Hunting is a free map-based app that offers hunters pinpoint global weather forecasts and location management. Save unlimited hunting locations (treestands, blinds, trail cameras, etc.) to your free account. Revisit your saved locations to plan future hunts and be in the right place at the right time!

Ad free version available –  $10.

 

4.Primos Hunting Calls

5.ScoutLook Hunting: Weather

ScoutLook App is considered a multi-tool for. You will be able to record hunting dates, locations, weather conditions, personal notes and more.

It gives you access to a free web-based version, with custom mapping tools, additional journal editing features.

Data you can record includes date, time, temperature and weather conditions, moon phase, game animals observed, game harvested, field notes and more. Save your current position and GPS co-ordinates live on an aerial map, or “digital scout” and save possible new hunting locations using the app’s mapping and GPS features.
